# Verification

> Configure how members verify their Roblox identity through your Discord server.

## What is Discord Verification?

Discord Verification links a member’s Discord account to their Roblox identity using Melonly’s verification system.\
This helps ensure that users in your server are who they claim to be and allows your staff to enforce Roblox based requirements.

Verification can be fully automated or handled manually depending on your server’s needs.

## Verification Settings

These settings are in the **Configuration** card.

| Setting | Description |
| - | - |
| **Verification Enabled** | Master toggle for enabling or disabling verification |
| **Auto Verification** | Automatically verifies users when they join if they have already verified with Melonly (within certain limits) |
| **Main Verification Type** | The verification type used for auto verification. Only the main type can use the Direct Message and Welcome Message approaches. |
| **Roblox Username Sync** | Sets a member's Discord nickname to their Roblox username when they verify |
| **Command Enabled** | Enables the manual `/verify` command |
| **Maximum Link Age** | Number of days since a user last linked their Roblox account in order to verify. Default 14 days, minimum 1, maximum 365. Requires [Melonly Plus](https://melonly.xyz/plus). Without Plus, 14 days is used. |
| **Verify Channel** | Channel used for Welcome Messages or the Static Button approach |

## Verification Types

Verification types decide how members are prompted to verify, which roles they get, and what they must meet. Click **Create verification type** in the **Verification Types** card to add one.

You can have up to 2 verification types, or 15 with [Melonly Plus](https://melonly.xyz/plus). Save any changes to the **Configuration** card before creating or editing a type.

| Setting | Description |
| - | - |
| **Enabled** | Turns this verification type on or off |
| **Name** | The name for this verification type. This is shown to users. |
| **Remove unverified roles** | Removes the member's unverified roles when they verify |
| **Verified Roles** | Discord roles given to users once they are verified with Melonly |
| **Unverified Roles** | Discord roles given to users who are not verified with Melonly |
| **Approach Type** | How users are alerted to verify when they join your server |

### Approach types

| Type | How it works |
| - | - |
| **Direct Message** | Sends the user a verification prompt via DM when they join |
| **Static Button** | Users click a button in a message in the **Verify Channel** |
| **Slash Command** | Users run `/verify` to begin verification |
| **Welcome Message** | Mentions the user when they join, with a button to verify |

  **Direct Message** and **Welcome Message** are only available on the type set as your **Main Verification Type**. **Slash Command** is only available when **Command Enabled** is on.

With [Melonly Plus](https://melonly.xyz/plus), you can customize the DM, welcome, or static button message of an existing verification type.

## How to send the verification button

Once you've configured your verification type with the **Static button** option, you'll need to send the verification embed into your designated channel.

<Tip>
  When you pick a new **Verify Channel**, the dashboard asks if you want to send the verification message there. Sending has a 30 second cooldown.

## Verification Requirements

| Requirement | Description |
| - | - |
| **Group Membership** | User must be in a specific Roblox group. You can also require a **Minimum Rank** (that rank or higher) or an **Exact Role**. |
| **Roblox Account Age** | User's Roblox account must be at least a set number of days old |

If a verification type has no requirements, users can verify without any additional checks.
