# Workflows Overview

> Learn what workflows are, how they work and how to create and manage them.

Workflows let your server or department build custom automations that connect ER:LC, Discord and Melonly.\
They are made of blocks that run when a trigger fires, such as a command, a role change or player activity. Mello AI can help you build them.

## Creating a Workflow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the Workflow">
    On the **Resources** page, click **New** and choose **Workflow**.

  <Step title="Choose How to Start">
    You can create a workflow in three ways:

    * Create Custom: Start from scratch and build your own logic.
    * Templates: Use a pre-built template for a common automation.
    * Import Share Code: Import an existing workflow with a share code.

    Enter a name for your workflow and click **Continue**.

  <Step title="Pick a Trigger">
    Pick a trigger. The trigger decides when the workflow runs.

    Browse or search the list of triggers. Each one shows its name, a description and the data it provides to the workflow.

    Some triggers, such as custom Discord commands, need extra setup before you can continue. See [Triggers That Require Extra Configuration](/Dashboard/resources/workflows/triggers#triggers-that-require-extra-configuration).

    Click **Continue** at the bottom to open the workflow editor and start adding blocks.

## Editor & Blocks

The editor has three tabs:

* Editor: Build and connect blocks.
* History: View past workflow runs and metrics such as runs today, error rate and average completion time. Logs appear here once the workflow starts running.
* Settings: Change workflow options such as the name. The Danger Zone section permanently deletes the workflow and all its blocks.

Blocks are the actions, conditions and utilities in the block list on the right side of the editor. Drag a block onto the canvas and connect its inputs and outputs to define how your workflow behaves.
